New York Road Trip: Day 7
Maywood July 4th Parade, visit to Aunt Marian, visit to Ppint Pleasant Beach

We woke up early and drove north for the 9 AM start of the annual Maywood July 4th Parade. This is a special event for those who have lived in Maywood, NJ, like myself. We first met up with Maureen Hillenius and family and then walked down to sit with Jimmy Panos and family on the curb to watch this half hour extravaganza of Americana. The parade was filled with marching bands, local kids, various wheeled vehicles and past elected officials from the town. As usual (for me) it was a complete BLAST! After the parade, we went down to Peerless Fire Department for their annual give-away of hot dogs and beer. We also enjoyed conversation with more friends while there. In the afternoon, we drove to Tom's River NJ and met with Kelly & Patty's Aunt Marian and cousin Maureen for about an hour. After our visit, we made the quick drive to Point Pleasant beach and let Kelly, Chris and Patty walk the beach for a little while. We ended the day by driving back up to our hotel and then to Lotus Cafe Chinese Restaurant for a great meal in Hackensack.
