New York Road Trip: Day 3
We took the NJ Transit bus into the Port Authority Building and then the Seventh Ave #1 subway downtown to South Ferry and after a 1.5 hr wait, took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We spent a couple of hours at Ellis Island seeing the main hall, wall of names, museum photos and also a 30 minute film about the way immigrants traveled to America and entered here at this historical point. It was quite a moving presentation and day for us. We left Ellis island and returned to our hotel at 3:30 PM via subway and bus. At 6 PM we met our dear old friends for dinner at The Crow's Nest restaurant followed by dessert at Harry & Maureen's in Maywood. Attending were Bob & Ellen Mohn, Harry & Maureen Hillenius, Jimmy Panos, Kelly & Chris Rohde and Phil & Patty Marder. It was a great day for us.

New York Road Trip: Day 2

Today, we drove across the great state of Pennsylvania. We really took our time and stopped to stretch and get a drink every couple of hours. Out of the clear blue, we decided to stop for lunch in Watsontown, PA. Everything in this town of 2,000 is named after Watson, so he (or she) was really loved here. We had sandwiches at the Watson Inn and then strolled down to the Susquehanna River bank for a look and a photo. We then drove another 3 hours through the Delaware Water Gap and stopped for more photos at a scenic overlook and at the famous Satin Dolls (Bada Bing) nightclub used during the filming of the Sopranos. We arrived at our hotel by 6:30 PM and had dinner across the street at "Charley Brown's) restaurant.

New York Road Trip: Day 1

New York Road Trip: Day 1
Visit to Mill Creek Park
Today was the first day of the "road trip" for the Marders and Rohdes to New York City. Phil & Patty drove from Indianapolis to Youngstown OH on Friday (6/27/08) and spent all day Saturday visiting with Kelly & Chris Rohde at their home before setting out on their trip to New Jersey and New York. After a leisurely morning of catching- up, the four of us went to Mill Creek Park in Youngstown. Chris & Kelly took us through the beautiful formal gardens of Mill Creek where we took these photos.
